SL125-GPS Synchronized LED Lantern Series

SL125-GPS Synchronized LED Lantern SeriesUtilizing latest advancements in GPS technology, We have developed an internal synchronization system for the popular SL125 5-7nm range of lanterns.

The SL125-GPS lantern provides the user with the ability to mark a channel, port or river with independently operating lanterns that all flash in synchronization. This presents a clear outline of the channel each time the lanterns flash, and is particularly effective in overcoming background lighting.

With advances in electronics, we have been able to produce a light that incorporates a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver. No additional power supplies, aerials or control systems are required. The SL125-GPS is a microprocessor-based system that has been designed to provide maximum reliability and performance of the beacon over a wide range of environmental conditions.

Using overhead satellites, multiply SL125 units set to the same flash pattern will synchronize anywhere in the world.

SeaFlare Technology

The inbuilt GPS receiver and advanced software of the our synchronized lanterns allow for the adoption of SeaFlare channel marking - a unique system that cascades the synchronization of channel lanterns in a uni or bi-directional flash pattern.

In Australia, the Port of Melbourne Corporation has adopted this technology to clearly identify the channel leading into Station Pier- an area that regularly accommodates some of the world's largest passenger vessels including the QE2.

The neighboring Port of Geelong utilize this technology to safely guide Afromax Tankers among other large sized vessels into harbor.

How does it work?

Synchronization is achieved using an internal algorithm based on the highly accurate time base and time data received from the satellites. The satellite data is provided from a number of earth stations using atomic clocks as the time base.

At power-up the microprocessor checks that the internal GPS module is programmed correctly and is able to provide valid time base and time data.

The light then checks for day/night. If it is daylight the internal microprocessor will go to idle mode after approximately 10 seconds. This reduces the overall power consumption when the light is not required.

  • Each light operates independently and requires no operator intervention
  • Three (3) satellites need to be in view for the built-in GPS receiver to collect time data
  • At dusk the light sensor will turn the light on. If time data is available the light will come on synchronized to every light with the same selected flash code

GSM Cell-Phone Monitoring & Alarm System

GSM Cell-Phone Monitoring & Alarm SystemOur cost effective GSM Cell-Phone Monitoring and Alarm System provides users with the ability to efficiently monitor the status of their AtoN installations via real-rime data from anywhere in the world.

This advanced GSM system (Global System for Mobile Communication) can be internally integrated into a range of our lanterns with no external aerials or base station required. Users simply monitor the status of their installations using a cellular telephone and/or secure web portal access.

Sealite lanterns fitted with the GSM Cell-Phone System have an internally integrated Motorola® cell-phone module and Sealite proprietary software to enable data transfer between the lantern and designated user’s cell-phone (via SMS message) or PC web interface.

Maintenance personnel simply send an SMS message to the designated Sealite GSM lantern cell-phone number, and then receive an automatic SMS reply detailing the various pre-set operational conditions. In addition, various alarm conditions can also be activated such as tracking a drifting buoy via GPS that has moved outside a designated area (if mooring is broken etc) or alerting to a potential power disruption.

Sealite’s innovative GSM system may also be setup to regularly report lantern conditions to a secure user-login portal area of the Sealite website. This provides details of the GSM lanterns operational status, in an easy-to-read PC interface, such as historical graphed data, GPS positioning viewed via internet mapping systems, and day-to-day operational information about each individual lantern over the period of it’s service life.

Each lantern is fitted with it’s own SIM card, which provides a designated cell-phone contact number for each individual lantern. Any network operator can be used providing they have GSM coverage.
